Finding a meaningful gift for parents who have everything is a familiar challenge. But if your parents own property in the UAE, there is one gift that offers something money cannot usually buy: certainty and peace of mind for the entire family.
A DIFC will ensures that their UAE property goes to the people they choose, without a lengthy court procedure, without uncertainty, and without placing a financial burden on their heirs. It is a practical, thoughtful, and lasting gift.
Why a DIFC will works as a gift
Most gifts are personal. A DIFC will is personal too, but in a different way. It says: “I care about our family’s future, and I want to make sure we are protected.”
For many parents, arranging a will for their UAE property is something they have been meaning to do but have not gotten around to. The reasons are familiar: it feels complex, it is easy to postpone, and the urgency is not immediately apparent. By taking the initiative as their child, you remove the barrier of getting started.
And unlike most gifts, this one does not sit in a drawer. It provides legal protection that lasts.
How the process works
Giving a DIFC will as a gift through UAEpropertyWills follows a clear and respectful process.
Step 1: You get in touch
You contact UAEpropertyWills to discuss your parents’ situation. We explain what is needed, answer your questions, and confirm whether a DIFC will is the right solution.
Step 2: You pay the guidance fee
The guidance fee covers the full preparation and support process. Fees are fixed: €797 or €1,499, depending on the complexity of the situation. You pay this as the gift giver.
Step 3: We approach your parents
We contact your parents with a personal invitation, explaining what has been arranged and what the process involves. This is done with care and sensitivity. Your parents are not pressured. They are informed and invited.
Step 4: Your parents complete the process at their own pace
Your parents provide the necessary information (property details, beneficiary preferences) and work through the preparation at a pace that suits them. The entire process is conducted remotely. No travel to the UAE is required.
Step 5: DIFC registration
Once the will is prepared and approved by your parents, it is submitted to the DIFC Courts for registration. The DIFC registration fees (AED 7,500 for a single will, or AED 10,000 for mirror wills) are paid by your parents directly to the DIFC portal. Registration typically takes 4 to 8 weeks.
It is worth noting that the DIFC portal allows self-registration. Our role is to guide your parents through the preparation, ensure the will is correctly structured, and support them through completion.
Good moments to give this gift
There is no wrong time to arrange a DIFC will. But some moments lend themselves naturally to this kind of gift.
A birthday or milestone anniversary. A significant birthday (60, 65, 70) or a wedding anniversary is a natural moment to give something with lasting value.
Retirement. When parents retire, they often review their financial affairs. A DIFC will fits naturally into that process.
After a property purchase. If your parents recently bought property in the UAE, the need for a will is fresh and immediate.
Or simply now. The truth is, the best moment is always the present one. Every month without a will is a month of unprotected exposure for your family.
What makes this different from a regular gift
A DIFC will is not a luxury item. It is not something your parents would treat themselves to on a special occasion. That is precisely what makes it valuable as a gift.
It addresses something important that would otherwise remain unresolved. It protects not just your parents, but the entire family. And it demonstrates a level of thoughtfulness that goes beyond the material.
Parents who receive this gift consistently tell us the same thing: they are relieved it is done, and grateful that someone took the first step.
